Traffic Guidance Scheme

Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS) are diagrams or plans that specify the type and location of traffic control signs and devices required to safely manage changes to existing road or footpath conditions.

Commonly referred to as Traffic Management Plans (VIC) or Traffic Control Plans (NSW) by many councils, TGS are required:

  • For simple, short-term works such as crossover constructions, mains connections, footpath closures;

  • When Councils request a Pedestrian Management Plan;

  • For most construction, utility or civil work on or near a Council Road.

What we offer:

  • Price-beat guarantee. If you find a lower price for the same service, we'll beat it by 10%.

  • Guaranteed 4-hour turnaround.

  • Extensive site scoping to ensure every TGS takes into account unique site constraints and any other environmental factors that may impact the correct implementation of traffic control devices.

  • We don't use generic plans at Infra. Every TGS is bespoke to suit our client's, and the project's, unique requirements.

  • Approval guaranteed. We've worked with councils and state road authorities for years, so we know what they want to see in a TGS. We offer unlimited revisions during the approval process until a permit is secured.

  • Our TGS's are designed to maximise safety, while minimising traffic management costs.

What is a Traffic Guidance Scheme?

A Traffic Guidance Scheme (TGS) is an illustration showing the physical layout of advanced warning signs and traffic control devices to alert motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and other road users to changed road conditions due to work areas or other hazards on or near the roadway.

A TGS essentially provides Traffic Controllers, or appropriately qualified personnel, with an instruction manual on how to set up a site to safely manage traffic and reduce the risk to both road users and construction workers for the duration of the works.

A TGS can include any number of traffic control measures such as:

- Pedestrian Management Plans

- Road Closures

- Lane Closures

- Speed reductions
